We see patients age 16 and older.

Aetna Better Health plans we are in network with

  • Medicaid, through Aetna Better Health of Texas

Plan networks change every year. Give us the full plan name and the member ID from your card and we will check it against the products we are contracted for.

We accept Medicaid at our Southlake office for patients age 16 and older, through one specific plan: Aetna Better Health of Texas.

Read this part before you book

Texas Medicaid is not a single contract. It runs through more than a dozen managed care organizations, and a practice signs with each one separately. Plenty of offices say “we take Medicaid” without saying which, and patients find out at the front desk or, worse, when a bill arrives.

We hold one. If the plan on your card is Aetna Better Health of Texas, you are in network here. If it is administered by another organization, we are not, and we would rather tell you that on the phone.

Look at the plan name on your card rather than the words Texas Medicaid, which appear on nearly all of them.

Naming us as your primary care provider

Texas Medicaid managed care plans require a primary care provider on file. Until that is set to us, a visit here can be denied even though your coverage is perfectly valid.

The change is made through your plan, not through us. Call the member services number on your Aetna Better Health card and ask to change your primary care provider to Magnolia Primary Care in Southlake. Call our office first and we will give you the exact provider details to use so the change goes through the first time.

If you need to be seen before it processes, call us and we will tell you where things stand.

What is covered here

Preventive care and annual visits, chronic condition management including diabetes, blood pressure and cholesterol, sick visits, women’s health, men’s preventive care, immunizations, and referrals when you need a specialist.

We see patients age 16 and older. We do not provide pediatric, prenatal or emergency care.

What to expect from us

The same visit anyone else gets. The same physician-led team, the same appointment length, and the same willingness to explain what we found and what happens next.

That should not need saying. It does, because people on Medicaid are routinely treated as a different category of patient, and many arrive here braced for it.

If your coverage has lapsed

Texas Medicaid requires periodic renewal and coverage sometimes ends without the member noticing. If you are not certain you are currently enrolled, call us with your information beforehand and we will check eligibility, so you hear it from us rather than from a bill.

If it has lapsed, ask about self-pay pricing. We would rather quote a clear number than have you skip care.

Practical details

Free parking directly in front, no garage and no fee, a short flat walk to the door. See our Southlake page for directions.

Bring your Aetna Better Health card, a photo ID, and a list of your medications including anything over the counter.

Aetna Better Health questions we get asked

I have Texas Medicaid. Does that mean you take my plan?

Only if your plan is administered by Aetna Better Health of Texas. Texas Medicaid runs through more than a dozen managed care organizations and each one is a separate contract. We hold one of them. Check the plan name on your card, not the words Texas Medicaid, and call us if you are unsure.

How do I name you as my primary care provider?

Call the member services number on your Aetna Better Health card and ask to change your primary care provider to Magnolia Primary Care in Southlake. Call us first and we will give you the exact provider name and address so the search returns the right record. It usually takes effect quickly.

What if my Medicaid is with a different plan?

Then we are not in network and we will tell you that on the phone rather than after the visit. Ask about self-pay pricing if you still want to be seen here, or we can point you toward practices contracted with your plan.

Do you see children on Medicaid?

No. We are an adult practice and see patients age 16 and older, so younger children need a pediatric office.
