Same-Day Sick Visits in Southlake, TX

When you are sick, being seen by someone who already has your chart in front of them matters more than most people realize. Magnolia holds same-day appointments Tuesday through Friday and on Saturday afternoons, so a sudden problem does not turn into a two-hour urgent care wait with a provider who has never met you and cannot see your medication list.

What we handle the same day

• Respiratory infections, cough, congestion and sore throat
• Fever, body aches and flu-like illness
• Stomach upset, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea
• Urinary symptoms
• Rashes, skin infections, boils and minor wounds
• Sudden headaches, dizziness or back pain
• Pink eye and styes
• Insect bites and allergic reactions
• A chronic condition that has suddenly gotten worse

We can do point-of-care testing in the office for strep, flu, COVID and urinalysis, and send anything else to the lab the same day.

Why this is not urgent care

Urgent care is built for throughput and for people it will never see again. That is a perfectly good fit for a sprained ankle.

It is a poor fit when you are on four medications, have a thyroid condition and a kidney that runs a little low, and the new symptom might be connected to any of it. Dose adjustments get missed. Interactions get missed. The visit ends with instructions to follow up with your regular doctor, which is a full extra appointment you now have to schedule.

Rachael Bowen, NP can see your medication list, your last labs, and what we treated you for in March. That context changes the diagnosis more often than people expect, and it changes the prescription almost as often.

Antibiotics, honestly

Most upper respiratory infections, most sore throats, and most sinus congestion in the first week are viral. Antibiotics do nothing for them except cause diarrhea, yeast infections, and a small permanent contribution to resistance.

We test when testing changes the answer, and we prescribe when the picture actually warrants it. When it does not, we tell you what will help: what to take, what to expect, how long it should last, and the specific signs that mean you should come back.

If you leave without a prescription, you should leave knowing exactly what to do instead. That is the standard we hold ourselves to.

When a sick visit turns into something bigger

Sometimes a routine visit surfaces something that needs ongoing attention. A blood pressure of 168 during a sinus infection. Blood in the urine. A weight that has dropped fifteen pounds since the last visit and nobody mentioned it.

We do not hand you a referral and move on. It becomes a scheduled follow-up in our chronic condition management program, with the labs already ordered.

Saturday appointments

We are open Saturday afternoons, which almost no primary care office in this area is.

That matters for two reasons. It means a Saturday illness does not automatically become an urgent care visit and a bill you did not plan for. And it means people who cannot take time off during the week can still see their own provider rather than a stranger.

Getting seen

Call as soon as we open. Same-day slots tend to fill quickly, particularly on Tuesday, which absorbs the weekend backlog.

We see patients age 16 and older. We do not provide pediatric care, and we would rather tell you that on the phone than after you have driven over with a sick teenager’s younger sibling in the car.

For evenings and weekends, use urgent care. For anything that feels like an emergency, call 911.

What to have ready when you call

• Your symptoms and when they started, in days rather than “a while”
• Your temperature if you have taken it
• Anything you have already tried, including over-the-counter medicines and doses
• Whether anyone at home or work has the same thing
• Your pharmacy, so a prescription goes to the right place the first time

If you are an established patient, we already have your medication list and allergies. If you are new, bring the bottles.

After hours and weekends

We are open Tuesday through Friday and Saturday afternoons. We are closed Sunday and Monday, and we do not have an after-hours line staffed by clinicians.

For evenings and weekends, urgent care is the right choice for anything that cannot wait until morning. Message us through the portal afterward and we will pull the records so it lands in your chart rather than disappearing.

For chest pain, difficulty breathing, one-sided weakness, slurred speech, confusion, a serious injury or heavy bleeding, call 911. Do not drive yourself and do not call us first.
